1) List the companies involved in the creation of Black Widow. You may wish to use Black Widow's IMDB entry to help with this - see the company credits page - but the answers can also be found in the notes above.
Marvel, Disney, Blitz, Pixstone Images, 4DX, SSVFX, Stereo D and etc.
2) What is conglomerate ownership and how does it link to Black Widow?
Conglomerate ownership links to Black Widow as Black Widow was not very developed in the movies she appeared in previously movie and the audience was not told much about her backstory. However, Disney had decided to create a movie about her from the comics. This links to conglomerate ownership if it was Marvel they wouldn't be able to as they would have a smaller budget than Disney as Disney is a profitable company which can afford huge budget movies and new concepts.
3) Analyse the film trailer for Black Widow. What aspects of the trailer tell you this is a big-budget blockbuster movie?
We can tell is supposed to be a big-budget blockbuster by looking at the CGI and props. For example, the settings include a very detailed and authentic vibe to the place the plot is set in for that scene for example in 1:46. We can also look at the costumes which can actually give us a perspective of the character's personality or are motifs of the theme e.g skin tight, plain jumpsuits. They are also high quality. Props of new technology that we wouldn't have normally also tell us that Disney had a huge budget for props and CGI.
4) How was Black Widow promoted to an audience? List at least three different methods used by the film's marketing campaign and why they were effective in promoting the film?
One way is the use of star power this is when producers hire an actor with a huge fan base to bring in more audiences which in this movie is Scarlett Johansson. Another way is by making actors talk in TV chat shows. This is shown when Scarlett Johansson goes onto GMA to talk about Black Widow and give hints about the movie. A third way they marketed this movie is when they used tweets from audiences to review and advertise the movie on billboards. This mixes ways of marketing, traditional and social media.
5) What was the production budget for Black Widow and how much did it make at the box office?
The budget was $288.5 million however in the box office it had made $379.8 million. This is not much in the Hollywood industry as there was only a profit of about a million which may not be enough for costs etc.
6) Would you consider Black Widow a successful Hollywood blockbuster? Why?
No, as the revenue made isn't that great if we compare it to other blockbusters. However, it is hard to tell as this movie came out during a pandemic (covid 19). But, if it had come out after or before the pandemic I would think this would be more successful and would gain a better revenue.
8) What age rating was Black Widow given? Why?
Black Widow was given a 12A. This is due to the amount of violence and the drinking/smoking scenes.
7) Who regulates the film industry in the UK?
BBFC
9) Look at the Marvel Black Widow website. How does the website help to promote the film? Give specific examples from the website and how they appeal to the audience.
It allows the audience to gain more context and interest in the movie and its plot.
10) Read this feature on Marvel using a fan's tweet to help market the film. Why is audience interaction such an important aspect of modern film marketing?
Using audience interaction is important as it allows the audience to feel an authentic and real review of the movie which urges people to go watch the film as people who are similar to them also left a positive review.
