Blog Feedback and LR Response

 FOR THURSDAY'S LESSON- blog feedback

Your blog looks beautiful - love the pink!
First 10 Questions
EBI- You need some more detail in your answers, for instance where you are talking about Barbie you say this:It appealed to many people because it includes something that many people can relate to.
This could be about any film and not just Barbie. What is 'something?!'
Mise-en-scene
WWW: You are using some great observation skills using all the aspects of CLAMPS which shows that you are starting to pick up on the details and the effect on the audience that these have. You are using connotate and connote really well which shows you are elevating your answers using media terminology. 🙂
Adverts- Denotation and Connotation
WWW-You have analysed the Water Aid advert well, considering setting and camera shots, facial expression and other aspects of mise-en-scene so well done.
For your advert (Kit Kat) change quote to 'slogan' again. You have been more specific / detailed in mentioning connotations of specific things which is promising.  Try and set it up as Point/Evidence/Effect on audience as this is a great analytical habit to get into!
EBI
For the Water Aid advert, some of your expression is a bit strange, for instance when you talk about 'body language code'. Try instead: verbal codes (words) and 'non verbal codes' (body language like you mention here). Similarly, you don't mean 'quote', you mean 'slogan' so just use media terminology whenever you can and use the glossary to help you.
You need to have a POINT about what the unique selling point of the Kit Kat is - the whole idea of taking a 'break' from a hectic life and how the advert shows the chocolate bar as the haven / calm in the stress.
Film Poster: Barbie (I still haven't seen this and I want to!)
WWW- I really liked that you analysed all aspects of LIAR well and especially understood Representation. I think you have some interesting things to say about gender and power which is great as we will be looking at this in a lot more detail as we progress with the course 🙂
Stranger Things Analysis
WWW- You have looked at all the aspects of CLAMPS and have some clear understanding of the text - for instance, when you talk about the juxtaposition between the 'Other' (you can say more about this - how the lab setting is out of place in a town) and the suburban setting.
EBI- You need to make the font like your other fonts as this one is hard to read and not paragraphed. Make sure you are writing in a Point - Evidence - Effect on audience structure so that you have a clear point and then back it up using detail from the trailer. Be as specific as you can - I find it confusing when you say 'the actors are trying to pretend to be young' as they are young! (Or they were when they played these teenagers!) So think more about how the different characters are established e.g. how do we know Dustin is the funny one? That Mike is the Leader? That they are a bunch of misfits who are not conventionally 'popular' young people?
LR
1.Go back to the first ten questions. Can you please make the Doctor Who and Barbie bit into proper paragraphs and choose parts of the film (the narrative? The setting? The characters?) and say what it is about this film that 'many people' relate to, and which types of people specifically e.g. mostly female or male? Age? However, you have analysed this in more detail in your film poster analysis so well done!
2. Make the  changes as above to the Stranger Things analysis. Write it as a Point-Evidence - Effect on audience structure and think more about the individual characters. Change the font!
3. If you have time, try and do one of the extension tasks for instance the article on Stranger Things is really good.
Thanks! And well done on an excellent start to the subject!
